William Gomes, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb 5, 2026 at Elmhurst Hospital. He was born
on Feb 11, 1937 to Suzana and Domingo Gomes in Dacca, British India.
He was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. His family—both
immediate and extended—was the center of his world. A caring husband, father and grandfather. He
lived his life with gratitude, humility, and generosity, always content with what he had and eager to
share with others.
With courage and determination, he came to the United States to provide a better life for his wife and
daughters. He worked tirelessly to provide for them, approaching every responsibility with sincerity and
pride. Known for his exceptional dedication, he never called in sick, earning the respect and admiration
of all who worked with him.
He lived fully, gave freely, and touched the lives of many with his kindness and steadfast spirit. We find
comfort in knowing that our father’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he
shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha; his daughters, Suzana, Stella, Magdalene, and sonsinlaw,
Ignatius Gomes, Vincent D’Rozario, Victor Gomes; four granddaughters and four grandsons; one
greatgranddaughter; and many cherished nephews, nieces, and friends who miss him deeply.
