Serge Lionel Jabouin was born on December 15, 1941 as the eldest son of Lelia Blanc and Emmanuel Jabouin in Port au Prince, Haiti and was called to eternal rest on Thursday May 6, 2021 after a long illness.
He attended Petit College Séminaire St. Martial and graduated from the Institut Supérieur Technique d’Haiti in July 1967 as a Civil Engineer.
On January 25, 1969 he married Marie Rose Lajoie, daughter of Emmanuel Lajoie. He immigrated to New York in 1970 where he lived until his transition. Serge and Marie Rose had 3 children, Stanley, Alain and Marjorie Jabouin.
Serge had a long career at JFK Airport, retiring in 2006 after 30 years of service.
He was a fervent Catholic and Member of St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for several years.
In his healthier seasons, he enjoyed discussing politics and was active in his church and civic organizations, including the Haitian American Community Organization (HACO), which he was the President and the Knights of Columbus, Champlain Council where he achieved the title of Grand Knight.
Serge will be remembered as a “bon vivant” (one who enjoys living the good life), who loved to dance, eat and drink with friends and family.
Serge is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jean Tales Jabouin, his sister Maryse Jabouin Menager grandchild Alain Jabouin Jr. and nephew Raynal Jabouin.
Serge leaves to cherish his memory his wife Marie Rose, his 3 children and daughter-in-law Carlyn Davis Jabouin, his sister Lyssa Jabouin Joseph, brother Lesly Jabouin, and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends, church members and acquaintances.
