Maria Teresa Padilla

Maria Teresa Padilla of Queens, NY was born in Colombia and was 86 years old when she passed away peacefully at home on November 11, 2023.

Maria Teresa was a lively, and fun-loving fashionista that enjoyed celebrating any and all occasions with her friends and family. She was an incredibly brave woman who took a chance on leaving her home in Colombia to start anew in the Big Apple with her growing family. While she was one of the hardest working people you could ever meet, she always made time for those most important to her. She travelled the world as often as she could and loved documenting her travels and adventures through photographs. She was the strong, independent matriarch of our family, a doting sibling, and described not only as a friend but as a sister by her friends. Her selfless nature was unmatched along with her generosity when anyone she loved was in need. Despite the distance from her extended family, she always made time to keep in touch. She enjoyed keeping active at the gym, get togethers with her wide group of friends, shopping, and growing her crystal figurine collection. Even in the throes of dementia, she kept her sense of humor and feisty, fighting spirit. She was immensely loved and will be missed dearly.

Maria Teresa is survived by her five children, Alfredo Padilla, Hernan Padilla, Nancy Molano, Adriana Molyneux and Nelson Ayala along with her six grandchildren, Jennifer Padilla, Natalie Molano, Michelle Padilla, Carolina Padilla, Christian Molyneux and Jonathan Molyneux. She is joining her siblings Pedro Lopez, María Jesús Tibaquira, Carmen Mantilla , Cecilia Guevara, Jaime Cañon and Humberto Cañon.
