Luz Delia Santiago was an anointed prayer warrior and a beloved daughter, wife, and sister; but her most celebrated role was a loving mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother. As a regal matriarch who was the “light” or “Luz” of her family and friends, she lived up to her well-known nickname: “Mama Luz.” Mama Luz was born in Puerto Rico on October 24, 1939, but later moved to New York City where she raised her children Albert F. Santiago, Nidia I. Santiago, Orlando C. Santiago and Oscar Lopez, Jr.. Mama Luz loved to attend church, praise a living God, and sing & dance to Christian music. Every morning she woke up choosing to be happy, energetic, generous, and spiritual. What she cherished most was time with her loved ones. Mama Luz modeled a life well lived and will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. She leaves behind two sons, a daughter, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She joins her son Orlando and grandchildren Nilsa Maldonado and David Melendez in the eternity promised by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
