Javier (Jay) Gonzalez passed away peacefully on April 3, 2020 due to complications of Covid-19, after a valiant effort, supported by his health care team at NY Presbyterian Hospital (Flushing, NY).

Jay, as he was known by his friends and family, was born in Manila, Philippines and attended Letran College.  He was the son of Benjamin Gonzalez and Lydia Arnaldo Gonzalez.  On June 5, 1963, he married our beloved mother, Amelia Mabini Gonzalez.

Jay had a highly successful career as a bodybuilder, competing and winning titles in Mr. Philippines,
Mr. World, and Mr. Universe.   He pursued politics -- running for Congress in the Philippines.  And finally, working here in New York, established himself in the field of filmmaking and distribution.

He lived a full life, and in his retirement, Jay was still active, travelling the world, and with no sign of slowing down.

He is survived by his loving family:  his spouse, Amelia (Mely), and their three children:  Jeanette and her son James; Arnold, his wife Denise and their son, Jason; and Albert, his wife Cherie, and their children, Asher and Gavin.

A small memorial service will be planned when we are able to congregate as a group in a few months.  In lieu of flowers, we graciously ask that you donate to a charitable cause – to be named by the family at that time.

He will be dearly missed, and he remains forever in our hearts and minds.  Our family thanks everyone who has supported us during this difficult time.
