Grace Tozzi Salerno, 99, of Closter, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at Artis Senior Living of Eatontown.
Born and raised in Manhattan’s Little Italy, Grace carried the values of family, tradition, and love throughout her life. In 1953, she moved to Elmhurst, NY, where she and her late husband Frank raised their two children.
Grace found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with her loved ones, celebrating milestones, and being part of the close-knit Tozzi and Salerno families. Whether at lively family gatherings or during quiet moments in recent years at Artis Senior Living, she was happiest surrounded by those she loved, especially her four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She shared a deep and lifelong bond with her sister Anna, who is still thriving at100 years young.
Grace was predeceased by her husband Frank (2003), her daughter Lillian, and ten siblings.
She is survived by her son Anthony Salerno and his wife Rose Gallo Salerno of Wantagh, NY and North Carolina, and her daughter Susan Salerno Bernardo and her husband Nick Bernardo of Shrewsbury, NJ. Grace leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Danny Salerno and his wife Joanna; Marisa Baldwin and her husband Chris; Nicole Boehme and her husband Chris; and Renee Canales and her husband Damil. She was blessed with ten great-grandchildren.
A visitation in Grace’s honor will be held at Neufeld Funeral Home on July 16, 2025.
