Ana Cecilia Ortiz, 77, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, passed away on April 18, 2021. She was born in Bogota, Colombia then came to New York City at a young age. The only family member in the US, Ana quickly learned English and built a full and happy life, active in her community and church for over five decades. Ana was seen to many, as they were to her, as family.
Ana will be sorely missed by her children Luis, Anna, Hector, Pablo, Viviana and Marysol. She adored her grandchildren PJ, Angel, Ciana, Ryan, Donte, Abigail, Nevan, Dakota, Nia, Corrine, Steven, Danny, Samantha, Manny, Nicky Jocelyn, Jeffrey, Jonathan, and great-granddaughter Violet, all whom lovingly knew her as “Wela.” A special thanks to all the spouses Yarah, Angel, Fallyn, Bonnie and Hector for sharing their lives with her.
Although Ana created a new family in the states, she never lost contact with her family back home. She will always carry her dear siblings Cristina, Flor, and Isidro in her heart as well as their children Luis, Esperanza, Hugo and Vanesa. She also held a special place for her dear cousins Marina and Alicia and their children.
Though Ana is no longer living amongst us, her legacy and joy of life will live on in her family and friends who will cherish their memories of her always.
Her Celebration of Life will take place 3:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Gerard J. Neufeld Funeral Home 8804 43rd Avenue, Elmhurst, NY 11373. Please no black attire.
