Amanda Herrera

Amanda Herrera, 82 , formerly of Jackson Heights, NY and most recently of Warwick, NY passed away on October 1, 2025, surrounded by love.

Amanda was born on May 10, 1943 in Cali, Colombia, the daughter of Silvia Gonzalez and Francisco Botero.

Amanda married Fernando Herrera on February 18, 1967 in Colombia and soon immigrated to the United States in search of the American dream, which she accomplished. Married for 54 years until Fernando’s death in 2021, they raised their children, Mauricio and Sylvia with a strong pride for their heritage,  an endless love for family, and a resilient work ethic. Amanda’s six grandchildren Gabriel, Lucas, Valentina, Ava William, and Julia, were Amanda’s greatest joy.

Amanda spent her career in the banking industry until her retirement from Capital One in 2010.

Amanda especially loved shopping, traveling, and doll collecting from various countries. Amanda was the first to start a good conversation, dance to a cumbia, and offer a helping hand. A visitor to Amanda’s home never left hungry.

Remaining to cherish Amanda’s memory are Mauricio m. Lorraine, and Sylvia m. Thomas Roome; grandchildren Gabriel, Lucas, Valentina Herrera, and Ava, William, and Julia Roome, extended family of cousins and lifelong friends.

Preceding Amanda in death are husband Fernando, her parents, brother Jairo, and numerous pets, but most especially her beloved dog Sinatra.

Visitation will be held Friday 10/10/1025 from 3-8pm at Gerard Neufeld Inc. Funeral Home. Memorial Mass  will be held Saturday 10/11/2015 at 9:45am at St. Joan of Arc Church, followed by interment at Calvary Cementary.

Memorial donations in Amanda’s memory may be directed to ASPCA.
